As I put together this week's mood board I found that most of the images pertain to getting lost and escaping in the mind. Some big and exciting things are in the works right now in my life and so, with an optimistic view, I encourage you to dream on...

Defy Gravity

I find the ability of photographs to freeze time utterly fascinating. These Lissy Elle photographs are a perfect representation of that; a dream-like state frozen in time. They are haunting, mysterious and have a special magical quality to them. Very Leibovitz-esque, who happens to be one my favorites.

American Girl

Call me biased because I am an American, but there's something undoubtedly unique about the effortlessness of American style. We are big into denim, relaxed wavy hair and red lips. Maybe it's a generalization, no it's definitely a generalization, but Americans have coined the causal effortless look. Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone!

White Hot

The all white look... so clean, chic, and fresh. For my graduation party this Saturday, I'm not giving everyone carte blanche (pun intended) for their attire... For this little beach soiree I'm requiring everyone dress in all white. Let's just pray no one shows up chanelling Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

Mod Meets Tropical

Just returned from a much needed vacaaaay to Hawaii and I'm still in island-mode. I'm feeling much inspiration from 60's mod meets tropical style. What I wouldn't give to spend a day in a 1960s summer.

70's Flare

Ahhh one of my favorite decades is back. Bellbottoms, silk blouses, platforms, three piece suits minimalistic jewelry and feathered hair. What's not to love. Well maybe the turtle necks- don't love the turtle necks with the chains with the 'fro's.

Le Stripe

Ever since my first trip to Paris as a bright-eyed 15 year old I fell in love with the effortlessness of Parisian women, more specifically their simple horizontal striped bateau shirts. Inspired by marinieres, as they are called in France, my closet now swarms with horizontal striped cotton shirts and dresses. For summer, there is nothing more chic, nothing more French than the perfect stripe.

Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Drinko! I'm planning on drinking grapefruit margs all day, swimming in a giant guacamole pool until I turn into an avocado, and lusting over the Celine poncho from Resort '11.

Wednesday Mood Board

Well the weather outside is dreary and sneaky. Absolutely, definitely not summer yet. My vision of summer does not include rain or wellies or anything not breezy and sunny.  Seeking a rich brightness which can only come from the light of a candle or perhaps from a glass of aged whiskey, I've created a '70s, jewel toned, and architectural inspired mood board to guide my sketches today.
